I have been teaching guitar professionally since 1984 and have taught 90 to 100 students per week at Stanroy Music Center since 1988. I have given well over 90,000 individual guitar lessons and am one of the most experienced teachers in northern California.
I have been playing guitar since 1968, started performing in 1972, and have opened for national acts such as Metallica, performing with Stone Crow, to Johnny Otis performing with the Decker Brother Blues Band.I have recorded numerous jingles for Vinson Advertising and have recorded sound files and videos for EMG Guitar Pickups, ToneCandy Effects Pedals, V-Picks Guitar Picks, WattGrinder ToneGrinder Tubes and WattGrinder Speaker Cabinets.
My influences include Jimi Hendrix, Carlos Santana, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen, Eric Johnson, Eddie Van Halen, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, Gary Moore, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Al Dimeola and everything I hear.
I am the author of the guitar book "Scales & Modes For Guitar" published in 1999. I currently perform in my band "The Bill Decker Band" playing original instrumental rock music, and in "Monsters of Rock" playing classic rock songs from the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s.
