Jazz manouche also known as gypsy jazz, gypsy swing or hot club jazz is a style of jazz music generally developed by the gypsy guitarist Jean "Django" Reinhardt in and around Paris in the 1930s. Django was from the Manouche Roma clan and that's where "jazz manouche" or "manouche jazz" name was born.
Gypsy jazz has its own set of frequently played standards, however, contemporary ensembles may adapt almost any type of song to the style. The highest number of jazz manouche musicians are still found in Europe as this is where gypsy jazz originates, but you can find musicians cultivating Django Reinhardt's tradition in almost every country, every continent.
