Multiinstrumentalist, bass guitarist and vocalist from Cameroon is best remembered as a member of Pat Metheny Group. His main influence was Jaco Pastoris. In 1989 he moved to Germany and later to France where he studied music and cooperated with local musicians such as Jacques Higelin, Didier Lockwood, Manu Dibango and Salif Keïta.
In 1995 Richard moved to New York, US and since then he cooperated as a sideman with a variety of top jazz musicians such as Larry Coryell, Mike Stern, Pat Metheny, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Jacky Terrasson, Bob James, Sadao Watanabe, Branford Marsalis, David Sanborn, Regina Carter, Bobby McFerrin, Joe Zawinul.
