This is our tribute to Jim Hall, one of most respected and admired guitarists in the jazz history who passed away December last year.
According to an announcement from his daughter, Devra Hall Levy (that we had pleasure to contact several times), Jim died in his sleep early Tuesday morning, only a week after celebrating his 83rd birthday.
Jim played with all those great names of the 20th century inlcuding Bill Evans, Ella Fitzgerald, Sonny Rollins, Art Farmer, Paul Desmond, Ron Carter, Pat Metheny, Bill Frisell, John Scofield and influenced the younger ones.
He also recorded with classical musicians, pianist George Shearing and violinist Itzhak Perlman.
Personally I wish to say that Jim Hall was first jazz guitarist name and jazz guitar music I've heard many years ago. He was one of those few musicians who made me fascinated about jazz music.
Jim Hall's records "Concierto" and "Commitment" were among first jazz vinyl records I bought.
