Django Reinhardt Jazz Festival is held since 1968 in Samois-sur-Seine, in the Île-de-France region in north-central France. Since 1984 It takes place every year in the last weekend in June. Samois-sur-Seine is the town to which famous gypsy jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt retired, where his grave is located.
Every year thousands of fans of Django Reinhardt and gypsy jazz music are traveling from all over the world to attend Django's Festival and take time out to pay respect at Reinhardt’s grave in Samois.
Birèli Lagrène is often guest at Django Reinhardt Jazz Festival. Born in a traditional Manouche-Romani people (Gypsy) family and community, Lagrene came to prominence in the 1980s for his Django Reinhardt-influenced style on the guitar, as well as for being a jazz fusion virtuoso on the electric guitar.
In 2015 once again he was playing in Samois, and one of piece he played was Billy Joel's hit song "Just The Way You Are", performed in gypsy style of course.
