Classical Gas by author!

Yes, it's Mason Williams who composed and originally performed "Classical Gas" in 1968. The song peaked at number 2 for two weeks in August same year. It was first released on 1968 album "The Mason Williams Phonograph Record" and later re-recorded numerous times. By many "Classical Gas" is known from Eric Clapton's recording for the film "The Story of Us". Clapton was musical director for the movie, and played much of the guitar music for it.
