Born in Budapest, Hungary Ervin Somogyi is a world famous guitar maker, luthier. After moving to the United States at age 15 he graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in English.
Initially Somogyi treated building guitars as a hobby. Today he builds primarily high-end steel-string guitars that sell for over $30,000 each for such musicians as late John Denver, Michael Hedges, Alex de Grassi and many more.
Somogyi guitars are recognized as the best recording instruments available by professional acoustic guitarists. Known for his craftsmanship, Somogyi was named in the Best Luthier in Frets Magazine's national poll 4 times. His guitars were played in Carnegie Hall and the White House.
