Once I Loved is a bossa nova and jazz standard song composed in 1960 by Antônio Carlos Jobim, with lyrics by Vinícius de First time it was recorded by João Gilberto on his self-titled album in 1961. It was not widely known even during the height of the bossa nova craze 1964-65), until recorded by Frank Sinatra in 1967. Since then Once Iloved was covered by number of great jazz instrumentalists and vocalists, including such names as Chcik Corea, Stephane Grapelli, Milt Jackson, Herbie Mann, Gerry Mulligan, McCoy Tyner, Ella Fitsgerald, Dianne Reeves, Astrud Gilberto, Shirley Horn. Among guitarists who played Once I Loved you can find Joe Pass, Wes Montgomery, Pat Martino to name only few.
