Spanish luthier, Antonio Torres Jurado is considered the father of contemporary classical guitar instrument. His guitars design and sound has remained essentially unchanged, and unchallenged to this day. The classical guitar repertoire spans numerous chronological periods: renaissance, baroque, classical, romantic and modern. Contemporary classical guitar technique owes much to Spaniard Fransisco Tárrega who transcribed for guitar works of Bach, Mozart and many more. Among other composers who made a major contribution to the expansion of modern classical guitar are also Heitor Villa-Lobos, Ferdinand Sor, Manuel de Falla, Roland Dyens and many more. Spanish guitarist Andrés Segovia Torres is often considered to be the father of the modern classical guitar movement.
