Stefano Tracanelli plays "Estrellita" written by Mexican composer Manuel Maria Ponce (1882-1948).
Ponce studied at the School of Bologna and at the Stern conservatory in Berlin. Once he returned to Mexico he was teaching piano and music history at the National Conservatory of Music.
Guitar music is a core part of Ponce's repertory. He also created the arrangement for guitar of J. S. Bach's Prelude from the first cello suite later performed and recorded by Segovia.
Estrellita (Little Star), written in 1912 is his most famous work.
