Der Peo, comment notification is sent to video owner only. I think it's important that video owner should know what comments or replies are posted on his video. So I guess Wolfgang received your reply notification, but not opposite. Same was on previous domain.
I'm not sure if reply notification should be sent to commenter that was just replied, but certainly this can be done. For test period I just activated this feature.
