Luther Allison was one of best Chicago blues guitarists ever. He was known for his powerful concert performances and lengthy soulful guitar solos on his Gibson Les Paul. Born in 1939 he moved with his family to Chicago in 1951 where 3 years later he began hanging around outside blues nightclubs. He played with Howlin' Wolf's band and backed James Cotton until Freddie King took him under his wings. In the mid-1970s he toured Europe where he moved finally (France) in 1977. In 1998 Allison was posthumously inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame. His youngest son Bernard Allison is now a solo recording blues artist.
Video is from Luther's live concert recorded in Montreal, 1997.
