"Obsequio a el maestro", nuimber 20 from 24 Caprichos de Goya, op. 195 composed by Italian composer and pianist, Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco (1894 - 1968). Castelnuovo-Tedesco was as one of the foremost guitar composers in the twentieth century. He wrote almost one hundred compositions for guitar, including 24 Caprichos de Goya, comosed in 1961.
Castelnuovo-Tedesco was known for his friendship with Andrés Segovia. He met Segovia at the 1932 festival of the International Society of Contemporary Music, held in Venice, Italy and this meeting inspired the composer to write his Guitar Concerto No. 1. Many later works by Castelnuovo-Tedesco were dedicated to master Segovia.
