One of the most famous pieces for classical guitar written by English composer and conductor Stanley Meyers in 1970. Originally written for piano, re-written and expanded by Meyers for the guitar at John Williams' invitation.
First guitar version was used for the film The Walking Stick (1970). John Williams' instrumental version used as the theme in "The Deer Hunter" movie (1978) became a UK Top 20 hit. Same year another instrumental recording of Cavatina by The Shadows and Hank Marvin on electric guitar made the Top 20 in the USA and #9 in the UK singles charts.
Of course the most famous recording and performance of Cavatina is one by John Williams, but the piece was also recorded and performed by number of many top classical guitarists worldwide. One of them is beautiful Ana Vidovic, originally from Croatia, now living in the United States, often placed amongs the elite musicians of the world today.
