It's been 9 years today since Paco De Lucia has gone forever.
Titanic figure in the world of flamenco guitar who evaluated traditional Flamenco to new dimension. He was also one of the first flamenco guitarists to have successfully crossed over into other genres of music such as classical and jazz.

“Paco lived as he wished and died playing with his children beside the sea,” said a statement from de Lucia’s family published on the websites of Spanish newspapers.

Death of Paco De Lucia touched so many. Many shared their thoughts on Twitter

Chick Corea:
"Paco inspired me in the construction of my own musical world as much as Miles Davis and John Coltrane."

Al Di Meola:
"My dear friend has passed and we will never forget his important legacy ! My years with Paco were amazing"

John McLaughlin:
"To have worked and played music with him was one the greatest blessings in my life,"

Cat Stevens/Yousuf:
"Sad to hear Paco De Lucia has passed away. May God show mercy to him and bring comfort to his family"

Carlos Santana:
"The Maestro King of Gypsy Flamenco Music is in heaven NOW Paco de Lucia I love you with all my heart Rascale en el cielo"

Rodrigo y Gabriela:
"Paco was not only one of the best guitarists ever, he was also one of the most compelling composers of the last 100 years."

Julio Iglesias:
"One of the greatest emblems of Spanish art has left us"

All today’s guitarists and flamenco enthusiasts feel orphaned now.

Nice tribute. Paco was the only one of this format. Undisputed King of Flamenco.
