Artist info
In London, 1977 guitarisr Mark Knopfler formed Dire Straits with his younger brother David (rhythm guitar), John Illsley (bass) and Pick Withers (drums). The first single, Sultans Of Swing, and self-titled debut album made Dire Straits superstars. Album "Brothers in Arms" (1985), has sold more than 30 million copies and it was the first album to sell a million copies on compact disc. In 2018 Dire Straits were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. However Mark Knopfler did not attend ceremony and Dire Straits were not given an induction speech and tribute performance dedicated to them. Mark didn’t explain why he wasn’t attending ever.
