Extremely popular bossa nova song, written by Luiz Bonfá for 1959 film made in Brazil, directed by Marcel Camus. Manhã de Carnaval appears in multiple scenes in the film and became the first Bossa Nova to gain popularity outside Brazil, particularly in the United States where it was adopted as jazz standard performed by the greatest jazz musicians.
Originally Marcel Camus rejected "Manha de Carnaval" as the film's main theme, but Bonfá was not going to give up and finally "Manhã de Carnaval" became a global pop/jazz/folk standard.
