Conor was four-and-a-half-year-old Clapton's son. He fell out of an open window in the high-rise New York condominium he was living in with his mother, Italian actress Lory Del Santo. Clapton was in New York at the time. Day before the tragedy, he’d taken Conor to the circus. He just wanted to be a good father .
"'I can't even have a picture of Conor in my house to remind me because it's too painful." said Clapton in interview.

Now this is my son who's learning it. He was not even born when Mr Clapton wrote this song.
