Wild Mountain Thyme is one of most popular Irish folk songs (also very popular in Scottland) written by Francis McPeake who dedicated it to his first wife. It was first recorded by McPeake's nephew, also named Francis McPeake, in 1957 for the BBC.
The song is also known as "Purple Heather" or as "Will Ye Go, Lassie, Go".
It was arranged for classical guitar and performed by many respected guitarists.
In video this is Matthew McAllister from Scotland, one of most gifted classical European guitarists, playing "Wild Mountain Thyme" on Michael Ritchie guitar.
