John Doan - Farewell

Born in Venice, California, John Doan began playing 12-string guitar at the age of 11. Later he also tried to play double-neck electric in a rock band. He was introduced to classical guitar while studying music at California State University, Northridge. Finally he found a century old harp-guitar in the music store, and this was the beginning of his adventure to play music on the harp-guitar. He studied the renaissance and baroque lute in the Netherlands and now is professor of music at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon, a historian, and a multi-instrumentalist specializing in unusual vintage instruments.
