Classical guitarist and a poet from Brazil, professor at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), Humberto Amorim recorded Farewell (Fantasie No.3) by English Renaissance composer and lutenist John Dowland inside Concatedral de San Nicolás de Bari in in Alacante, Spain.
Dowland's works are continuing source of repertoire for today's lutenists and classcal guitarists. Especially Julian Bream, lutenist and one of the most distinguished classical guitarists of the 20th century played a significant role in growing interest in the music of the Renaissance lute and John Dowloan's lute works in particular.
Also Sting, who says he has been fascinated by the music of John Dowland for 25 years, released an album in 2006 featuring Dowland's songs titled Songs from the Labyrinth, on Deutsche Grammophon, in collaboration with Edin Karamazov on lute and archlute.
