Hymne à l'amour translated to English as "Hymn to Love" is French iconic song originally performed by Édith Piaf. The music was written by French songwriter and composer Marguerite Monnot, who also composed other famous song performed by Piaf, "Milord".
Lyrics were written by Édith Piaf herself and was dedicated for the love of her life, the French boxer, Marcel Cerdan who was killed in a plane crash on his way from Paris to New York to come and see her.
Born in Algeria Marcel Cerdan was the greatest boxer France ever produced. He was younger than Piaf, but already married and the father of three children.
Piaf first sang this song at the Cabaret Versailles in New York about two weeks after Marcel Cerdan was killed . Recorded first time next year, May 2, 1950.

Hymne à L'amour best arrangement for classical guitar was made by famous French guitarist, arranger and composer, Roland Dyens. And this is what guitarist Omar Fassa from Milan (Italy) is playing in video.
When thinking of "Hymne à l'amour" arrangement, who could to this better if not French musician, additionally such great guitarist as Roland Dyens is.

Hymne à L'amour notation has been published by Editions Henry Lemoine on "Chansons Francaises" vol. 1. The book includes 14 popular French songs arranged by Dyens and is available to purchase at http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/ti ...

Big respect to Mr Roland Dyens for beautiful transcriptions of popular French songs, including this famous song by Piaff. Interesting story behind the song. Didn't know it.

Beautifully played! Very, very nice. Also the film editing!
(Just curious: isn't linking to the score an infringement of Roland Dyens copyrights? I am sure that those that wants to play it, will pay for it instead of downloading a (badly made) illegal copy)
But maybe it is only me...
But that doesn't change that I think Omar Fassa plays really beautiful!

Dear Peo, this is Scribd.com resource, not connected with Veojam in any way. Just a link found on internet, link to website held by official company based in San Francisco, founded in 2007. Notable users of Scribd are the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC), Red Cross, UNICEF, World Economic Forum, United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, The World Bank, Ford Motor Company, Hewlett-Packard, and many more. I cannot know if all material published there is legal. Some publishers have been using it to make free promo copies. Copyright lengths are horribly complicated in the US so it's hard to guess how it is with each single copy of each single author. There is many controversies about Scribd, it's been accused of copyright infringement few times. It is blocked for Internet users in Turkey. From other hand Scribd has automated copyright protection system that helps authors and publishers identify unauthorized use of their works.

BTW. A copy of your Pachelbels' Canon arrangement you can also find on Scribd.com ....

Whatever Scribd.com resource is, of course we prefer to promote official authors works, and so the link in video description has been manually edited by admin here and now leads to legal Dyens publication including 13 other compositions. The price is bargain as for 40 pages book of notation by such great composer.

I'm not a fan of Edith Piaf but love transcription by Dyens for guitar. Beautiful.
