Tango waltz "Chiquilín of Bachín" is a song composed by Astor Piazzolla with lyrics by Uruguayan poet Horacio Ferrer. In 1967 Astor Piazzola and Horacio Ferrer had begun a prolific musical-poetic association that would last several years. From that moment they began to compose popular songs and one of them, composed in 1968, was "Chiquilín of Bachín".
The song is about a street kid who sells flowers at restaurants in the theater district of Buenos Aires located on Corrientes Avenue. Bachín was a tavern located on the north sidewalk (odd) Sarmiento Street, near the corner of Montevideo. Horacio Ferrer was a frequent guest at the bars and restaurants in the area, like most artists then. His house was three blocks from Bachín.Nota 1
The music in video is performed by famous jazz guitarist Al Di Meola, who met Piazzolla shortly before his death. Meola recorded several arrangements of Piazzola works and released a tribute album "Meola plays Piazzolla" in 2007 combined of Piazzolla's arrangements from his previous albums and few new.
Just beautiful music performed by phenomenal guitarist!
