Longing by Celil Refik Kaya

Born in Istanbul, Turkey in 1991 Celil Refik Kaya started to play classical guitar at the age of six with the guidance of his father, Dr. Mehmet Refik Kaya. When he was 19, Celil earned his Bachelor Degree of Music from the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University State Conservatory with the Highest Honor Degree in Istanbul, and was granted the “Excellence” Scholarship from the Turkish Educational Foundation. He also received a full scholarship from Mannes College the New School for Music (Master of Music) in New York City and the University of Texas (Doctoral of Musical Arts). Celil performed at some most prestigious concert halls and the festivals around the United States and Turkey including the D'Addario Performance Series at Carnegie Hall.

In this hard time for Turkey and Turkish people we thought we should pay tribute to the victims of the failed military coup in Turkey, by presenting one of most talented Turkish musicians.
