Charles Mokotoff, classical guitarist based out of the Washington D.C. area recently returned to guitar after a long break and has remastered an old recording for his first CD Autumn Elegy. Charles holds Bachelors and Masters degrees in guitar performance from Syracuse and University and Ithaca College. As many young boys he started playing electric guitar in a rock band when he was 13 or 14 but later moved to classical music and guitar. He studied with Edward Flower at Ithaca and also Carlos Bonell in London and mention Michael Lorimer as one who showed him what it was to be a pro.
He became widely recognized as an active guitarist and Renaissance lute player in the 1980's. His career culminated with two Far East tours and a well-received New York City debut at Carnegie Hall in 1987.
Around 1993 Charles got a job in the IT as an Information Technology Specialist at the National Institutes of Health and started a family. He said goodbye to the guitar for quite some time. Charles suffers from a serious hearing loss. In his early career as a misician Charles used an analog hearing aid. Today he uses smaller, digital hearing aid that he programmed with his audiologist. He also use special phone app to hear better in public places.
