Here is my tribute to the late Allan Holdsworth, one of my greatest influences ever. When I was 17 I received two albums that would change how I thought of the guitar forever, Allan Holdsworth's 'Metal Fatigue', and Stanley Jordan's 'Magic Touch'. I realized that they were both creating their sound by using hammering and tapping techniques, and I immediately began trying to create a more Holds-worthian legato (smooth) sound with my right hand and started using my left hand to hammer chords. But mostly, Allan's beautiful, exotic, and powerful music changed how I hear music. He was always reaching for a new sound, and he was way ahead of his time.
'Not Holdsworthy' is a jam that drummer Van Christensen and I recorded with Allan's music in mind :-)
