My arrangement of Satie's "Gymnopédie No. 1" https://shop.per-olovkindgren.co ... isn't special in any other way than I tried to be as true to the piano original as possible. I have even kept it in the original key of D-Major using Drop-D tuning. In the score he writes "Slowly and mournfully".
Eric Satie (1866-1925) was a French composer and pianist. He was a colorful figure in the early 20th-century Parisian avantgarde. His work was a precursor to minimalism, surrealism, repetitive music. Satie was introduced as a “gymnopedist” in 1887, shortly before writing his most famous compositions, the Gymnopédies. Later, he also referred to himself as a “phonometrician” (meaning “someone who measures sounds”), preferring this designation to that of “musician”. Today it is known Satie was autistic.
