Intimate recording of famous Chopin's Prelude by Spanish classical guitarist Carles Trepat and Enrique García on mandolin. Interesting fact is that both instruments are mounted with silk and gut strings dating from the beginning of the 19th century.
According to George Sand's daughter Solange, Prelude n°4 was written by Chopin at the monastery in Majorca and by composer's request was played at his own funeral. George Sand named it "Quelles larmes au fond du cloître humide?" (What Tears [are shed] from the Depths of the Damp Monastery?). Prelude n°4 became a part of pop culture by being quoted in Serge Gainsbourg‘s song (Jane B) and Antonio Carlos Jobim’s Insensatez.
Chopin's Prelude n°4 was transcribed and arranged for the guitar by Spanish guitarist Miguel Llobet.
The video was recorded for Les Jeudis de la Guitare, Suisse nonprofit guitar organization, organizing concerts, masterclasses, exhibitions, recordings, conferences and editions.
